Commissions
If you are interested in commissioning me to do a drawing of your beloved pet, person, landscape, or anything else, here is some of the information you should need to know.
Each commission is unique and will be discussed before I start drawing. I tend to work with the customer with regular progress pictures throughout.

I am currently fully booked for Christmas but I am taking bookings for the new year (end of February onwards). I usually have a waiting list so please make sure you get in touch in plenty of time if your hoping for a portrait for a gift or special occasion. If you unfortunately didn't do this please still get in contact as I may have a cancellation or unpredicted time available.

The commission process:
All I need is a photograph of your choice and as good as quality as possible. The higher the quality the better as I can see all the details!
However, if unfortunately, the animal or person is no longer with us/unable to get more photos, I might be able to do my best to work with what you have.
The best photos are clear and taken at eye level. Usually they are better quality if taken in natural daylight. See below for examples.

Reference Photos
Choosing the reference photo is the most important part. You want a photo that truly represents the animal I will be drawing.
The quality of the image is also a huge factor when it comes down to your final portrait. I can only draw what I see so in order to include the most amount of detail possible this needs to be seen in the image you give me. If however you are really struggling or unfortunately the animal is no longer with us I am happy to discuss what you have and work with you through the portrait to get the best possible likeness as I can.
Usually when taking photos of your pet you'll get the best results in natural daylight, taking the photo at their eye level. Phone pictures are usually perfectly fine however if you have access to a good camera then this may be better.

When commissioning me to do more than one subject on a piece it is not necessary for both of the animals to be in the same reference photo you give me, I can work from separate photos and bring them together.

Also do not worry about the background of an image as I will be ignoring this part of the picture.

If your reference photo includes something like a collar or bridle and you do not want me to draw this on your portrait then I can usually work around this and take it off, this will be discussed beforehand.
Good reference photo example:

This is a 'perfect' reference photo, it is clear, at eye level, nice pose. A nice amount of light showing the detail in the eyes.

Bad reference photo example:
This isn't an ideal picture to work with. It is hard to make out parts of the horse, it is dark with no light hitting the horse to define the features. a filter has been used enhancing the colour of the horse.
